Ulrich Ogiermann

With three decades in the air cargo sector, Uli offers invaluable insights into logistics, executive management, and industry innovation, ensuring strategic growth and operational excellence.

Born in Hanau, Germany, and holding German and Luxembourgish nationality, he earned a
Doctorate in Economics from Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt. He began his
career with Deutsche Lufthansa AG before moving to Lufthansa Cargo, where he held
international management roles including General Manager Cargo Southern Africa in
Johannesburg.

He joined Cargolux in Luxembourg in 1998 as SVP Global Sales and Marketing and was
appointed President and CEO in 2003. During his tenure, he led the company through a
period of significant expansion, strengthening its global market position, overseeing major
fleet investments including the introduction of the Boeing 747-8F, and managing the business
successfully through the 2008–2009 industry downturn.

From 2012 to 2017, he served as Chief Cargo Officer at Qatar Airways, where he built the
cargo organisation from the ground up into one of the world’s leading cargo carriers,
establishing a global network, expanding the freighter fleet, and overseeing the development
of a major cargo terminal at the new Doha airport.

He subsequently held senior leadership roles including Senior Vice President Operations at
Volga-Dnepr Group / CargoLogicManagement in London, where he was responsible for
group airline strategy and operational standards, and Chief Commercial Officer at AlisCargo
Airlines in Milan.

Across his executive career, he held full P&L responsibility for multi-billion-dollar
businesses and led organisations of up to 3,000 employees in complex, international
environments. He has a consistent track record of delivering growth, improving operational
performance, and building high-performing teams aligned to clear strategic priorities.

He has also been active in industry governance, including as Chairman of TIACA and a
member of the IATA Cargo Committee, and has served as a Non-Executive Director and
